The Pilatus PC-24 was first introduced in May 2013 at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, and had its first delivery in February 2018.
The PC-24 is a step up from the PC-12. It moves away from the single engine turboprop design and into the twin turbofan business jet family instead. While still maintaining its ability to takeoff and land on rough surfaces or terrain. Other notable upgrades include longer range, faster cruise speed, increased maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) and more.
As per Pilatus chairman Oscar Schwenk and the Pilatus website. The design of the aircraft is meant to be in a class of its own (the Super Versatile Jet – SVJ) by combining the versatility of a turboprop, the performance of a light jet and the cabin size of a light / medium jet.
Performance
The PC-24 is powered by two Williams FJ44 engines with approximately 3,420 pounds force thrust each. It has a maximum range of 2,000 nautical miles with 6 passengers, and a maximum cruise speed of approximately Mach 0.65. It also has a long range cruise speed of Mach 0.54 and a stall speed of approximately Mach 0.12.
One major benefit of the PC-24 is its ability to land on short runways, as well as on unpaved surfaces. This gives it more flexibility to operate in more airports than most aircraft of similar size and performance.
In a standard configuration, the PC-24 can seat up to 12 passengers including a pilot and crew. After an upgrade in 2018, the maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) is 18,300 lbs and the maximum landing weight (MLW) is 16,900 lbs. It also has a maximum cruise altitude of 45,000 ft.
Interior
While being considered a low-wing cantilever cabin monoplane. This aircraft has a cabin that measures 5 ft 1″ in height, 5 ft 7″ in width and 23 ft in length. It has the ability to be reconfigured quite easily, which can create more room for baggage and additional travel accessories.
In the cockpit area, Pilatus utilizes their Advanced Cockpit Environment (ACE). It includes four 12 inch displays in the flight deck, and is a collaborative effort with Honeywell. This also includes their Synthetic Vision System (SVS), Autothrottle, Inertial Reference System (IRS) and more.
Additional Info
- The PC-24 is considered to be comparable to the Embraer Phenom 300, the Cessna Citation CJ4 and the Learjet 75.
- In a standard configuration, the baggage compartment is 90 cubic feet.
