In June 2006, Cirrus announced the development of a new aircraft called the Vision Jet. It was originally called “The Jet” and named the Vision SJ50. It was later redesigned in March of 2009 and renamed to the Vision SF50. In October 2016, it was officially certified and has since been under the name of the, “Vision Jet”.
The Vision SF50 is a very light jet (VLJ) that is designed with a single engine. It comes with an interesting Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS), along with Safe Return emergency autoland technology. In 2018, the aircraft also won the Collier Trophy and Flying Innovation Award.
Performance
The Cirrus Vision SF50 is equipped with a single turbine engine. The Williams International FJ33-5A has approx 1,846 lbs force of thrust and is said to be comparable to a high-performance single engine turboprop. The aircraft is capable of transporting seven passengers including a pilot. Plus, has a maximum range of 1,275 nautical miles (2,361 km).
The Vision SF50 is also capable of a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.47, along with a maximum cruise altitude of 31,000 ft. The maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) is approx 6,000 lbs and maximum ramp weight is approx 6,040 lbs.
Interior
The SF50 has designed its cabin around the influence of some of the largest in its class. The cabin height is approx. 4’1″ and it’s width is approx. 5’1″. An interesting thing to note is that the cabin is considered “transformative” and can be configured for up to 28 different seating configurations.
The avionics included in this aircraft is the Prospective Touch+ by Garmin. It has features such as situational awareness that include a real-time map and uses Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT). The aircraft also includes Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) and Autothrottle.

- In 2018 and 2019, the Vision SF50 was the most delivered business jet.
- Due to its size, it’s able to takeoff and land at short distances. This allows the aircraft to fly in and out of many different airports.
